The UBTP undertakes the following:
- Assists and supports emerging and existing technology-based enterprises
- Accelerates business development and economic growth
- Provides state-of-the-art physical infrastructure
- Fosters non-competitive collaboration and can broker strategic alliances between UBTP tenants, the University of Ballarat, and industry to develop effective business partnerships
- Provides consultation opportunities with academic researchers and skilled professionals
- Regional location is economically competitive and well connected
- Helps business to resource venture capital and funding from other businesses, financiers and local, state and federal government
- Promotes the reputation of the region as an ICT hub, advancing the standing of its tenants
- Is a stimulating precinct and dynamic work environment in a natural bushland setting
- Offers excellent facilities including accommodation, conference and catering services, in addition to plentiful parking and the broad facilities of the UB Mt Helen Campus
- Is committed to fostering a productive and sustainable community of technology companies, advancing human endeavour and wellbeing while exploring economic opportunities and providing a satisfying work environment for its tenants and their employees.
The UBTP:
- Contains 24,170 square metres of floor area in seven buildings
- Has a capital value of approximately $50 million
- Houses 31 companies, including IBM, Rural Ambulance Victoria, ID Research, Emergency Services Telecommunications Authority, State Revenue Office
- Combined, UBTP tenants employ more than 1340 people
- Contributes to the regional employment of approximately 2000 further people through flow on effects, annually
- Annually contributes approximately $78 million into regional household income
- Annually contributes approximately $259 million to regional outputs
- The UBTP has placed a significant focus on attracting and fostering businesses that operate within the Information and Communications Technology industry sector. However other technologies being pursued including bio tech, agric tech and enviro tech.
