An Industry Perspective on eHealth - Guest speaker: David Freemantle, General Manager, Fred IT Group. eHealth, which combines the use of electronic communication and ICT in the health sector, is emerging as an area of significant priority for Australia's healthcare system. The National Broadband Network has the potential to make widespread eHealth deployment a reality. Over the past 20 years Fred IT Group has grown from its Ballarat beginnings to become Australia's largest dedicated provider of business and professional solutions to the pharmacy and retail industries.

Mt Helen Tech Park Expansion, University of Ballarat, Proposal Planning Scheme Amendment

The University of Ballarat is proposing to undertake an amendment to the Ballarat Planning Scheme in order to rezone part of the University owned land.

Uni of Ballarat Technology Park Innovation & Technology Award

Winner: Veolia Environmental Services. With just 12 months of local experience, Veolia can transport and dispose of waste and recycling throughout Ballarat and surrounding suburbs. Veolia's Commercial Services Branch Manager Gary Buckland said, "It (the awards) is really worthwhile and I encourage others to try for it too. It is an incentive to improve and do better".

Regional Growth Fund

The Minister for Regional and Rural Development, Peter Ryan MLA along with Ministers Denis Napthine MLA and Peter Hall MLC launched the Regional Growth Fund at the GEC Conference Centre, July 5, 2011. The Regional Growth Fund is the Victorian Government's $1 billion commitment over eight years to drive regional development across the State and ensure regional Victoria remains a key contributor to the State's future growth and prosperity.

IBM has the IT factor

THE new IBM IT Services Centre will employ 300 people and add an estimated $61 million to Ballarat's purse.

IBM services centre a boon for Ballarat

A new information technology service centre will be officially opened in Ballarat today, adding $61 million to the region's economy over the next five years and 300 jobs to an area of Victoria where unemployment is an ongoing problem.

IBM further investment in Tech Park

The University of Ballarat and IBM Australia will construct a new $10.8 million IT Services Centre at the University of Ballarat Technology Park (UBTP). Made possible with the support of IBM Australia, Victorian Government, University of Ballarat and City of Ballarat, the Centre will lead to the creation of 300 new jobs.
