UBTP Management
A Director’s Perspective
It was not until I was appointed to the Technology Park in late 2007 that I realised the magnificent contribution that the Park annually makes to the economic and social well being of Ballarat and regions. I was fascinated to learn that the UBTP:
- Employs about 1350 persons
- Contributes $106 million in household income (direct and flow on) to the regional economy each year
- Contributes $350 million in economic outputs (direct and flow on) to the regional economy each year
Over the next two years the aim is to:
- Increase ICT investment in the Park and the number of Park employees to 2000
- Heighten the profile and image of the UBTP, nationally and internationally
- Place an increased focus on strategic planning, particularly in relation to land acquisition and land use
- Ensure greater collaboration between the University and the UBTP
- Ensure greater collaboration between the UBTP and the State Government, the City of Ballarat and regional industry and community groups
The UBTP is an excellent example of what can be achieved through vision and hard work in relation to new and emerging technologies. The next phase of the Park’s growth and development will be an exciting and highly productive period.
