UBTP Management
Director’s Perspective
Over the last 3 years, the Technology Park has continued to thrive and prosper and generally make a very significant contribution to the regional economy. Recent independent research commissioned by the University reveals that the Park is making a very positive economic impact.
The report commissioned by the University indicated that the economic impact of the Technology Park in 2009 to be $296 million, with $97 million contributed in wages and salaries. In 2009, the Technology Park provided 1,731 full-time jobs to the economy of Ballarat equating to nearly 5% of the total full-time employment in the City.
Over the next two years the aim is to:
- Progress the planning for a Stage 2 Technology Park expansion
- Focus on business diversification, building on information and communication technology but extending into bio medical and energy technologies
- Continue to build the State and national profile of the Park
- Increase the local workforce in the Park to 2000+ people
The UBTP is an excellent example of what can be achieved in a dynamic regional centre, where there is a clearly articulated vision and associated hard work and effort.
