Study commends leaders in eHealth
Ballarat is leading the way in eHealth.
That’s the message in a new study that aims to spruik the city’s eHealth credentials.
The term eHealth refers to the use of information and communications technology in health care practices.
The Ballarat eHealth Capability Study booklet will be used to attract more investment in the sector locally.
Ballarat major Judy Verlin said the city boasted expertise in the healthcare and ICT industry locally and, as a result, had established itself as a leader in the field of eHealth.
“Ballarat’s leading the way in this sector,” Cr Verlin said.
She said documents should help show health professionals their skills would be enhanced by working here.
Ballarat ICT Ltd Chairman Mal Vallance said the local ICT industry was a big provider of jobs, including those in the eHealth sector.
“There’s thousands of people employed in the region directly and indirectly,” Mr Vallance said.
The publication has been produced by the City of Ballarat, Ballarat ICT Ltd and the Ballarat ICT Cluster eHealth Forum.
